Larry Hamburg

Lead Guitar

Doctor Larry, as he is known around the community, has his roots solidly in the classic Southern Rock genre (the Allman Brothers, in particular), though he is also well-versed in somewhat more contemporary music performing songs recorded by bands like Dave Mathews, Ben Harper, and Chris Stapleton. His interest in the electric guitar began around 1969, when he saw Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page for the first time. He has been playing in rock bands since. Larry’s bands have always donated any proceeds to various charitable organizations, most recently becoming vehicles through which to spread awareness of oral cancer after being personally diagnosed with stage 4 in 2007. He then formed the OrCA Blues Band (and renamed the band in 2022, simply The OrCA Band, because they play so much more than just the blues). The OrCA Band and OrCoustic (the acoustic version of TOB) have played throughout the Mid-Hudson area, to spread awareness of this terrible disease, ever since.

Doug Hart

Percussion

Doug Hart is a skilled percussionist and a valued member of “The OrCA Band,” a group that uses their music to raise awareness and support oral cancer patients. Doug’s dynamic and expressive style on percussion adds energy and depth to the band’s sound, and his passion for music is contagious. In addition to his working with “The OrCA Band,” Doug is also an excellent back up vocalist and Dr. Larry always appreciates his gentle harmonies, as well as his renowned smile. Outside of music, Doug is a part time perfusionist, an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoys spending time with his chocolate lab, Tess. He is also a father of his two grown (extremely talented) children, and a very lucky husband to Julia.

Joe Phelan

Keyboard

Joe Phelan began his musical journey at the age of 7, when his parents “encouraged” him to take classical piano lessons in his hometown of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. When he was 15, Joe was bitten by the rock’n’roll bug, bought a combo organ and amplifier, and has been gigging on keys in rock bands ever since, at dances, bars, clubs, frat parties, and opening for national acts around New York State. Joe is equally at home using acoustic and electric pianos, Hammond organ, and synthesizer sounds, as well as providing vocals to support the band’s mix. His musical tastes are eclectic, and he enjoys supplying keyboard sounds to tunes from southern rock, blues, classic rock, jam band, and contemporary rock genres. These days, he gigs with bands in the New York City area, as well as in Central and Northern NY. Joe is very excited to be rocking for a great cause with OrCA, closer to home in the Mid-Hudson Valley, where he lives currently.

Nhoj Asperin

Drums

I always seek music wherever I go. I’ve been living in different places through the years (The Philippines, Kansas, Mississippi, North Dakota). I have enjoyed the local scenes having played drums and/or percussion with musicians and bands of different genres like rock (hard rock, classic rock, alternative, southern rock), ska, reggae, blues, bluegrass, country, funk, r&b, soul, neo soul, and also playing in church. Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards groove-oriented, pocket playing. A recent transplant to the Hudson Valley, I am enjoying the scene and kept discovering the rich culture and the number of celebrity musicians who live in the area.
