The Band

Five musicians, one mission: raise awareness of oral cancer through music.

Dr. Larry Hamburg

Larry Hamburg

Guitar / Vocals

Doctor Larry, as he is known around the community, has his roots solidly in the classic Southern Rock genre (the Allman Brothers, in particular), though he is also well-versed in somewhat more contemporary music performing songs recorded by bands like Dave Mathews, Ben Harper, and Chris Stapleton. His interest in the electric guitar began around 1969, when he saw Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page for the first time. He has been playing in rock bands since. Larry’s bands have always donated any proceeds to various charitable organizations, most recently becoming vehicles through which to spread awareness of oral cancer after being personally diagnosed with stage 4 in 2007. He then formed the OrCA Blues Band (and renamed the band in 2022, simply The OrCA Band, because they play so much more than just the blues). The OrCA Band and OrCoustic (the acoustic version of TOB) have played throughout the Mid-Hudson area, to spread awareness of this terrible disease, ever since.

Chris Robertson

Chris Robertson

Slide Guitar / Vocals

Chris Robertson is an accomplished musician and guitarist. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Chris grew up on Haverford College Campus, where he was inspired to play guitar after seeing many rock bands play at Spring Fling. After a brief stint in the recording studio business in NYC at Sync Sound and The Power Station, Chris fled to Vermont, where he lived for the past thirty years with his wife and children before recently moving to the Hudson Valley.

In Vermont, Chris “SlideDog” Robertson became known for his slide guitar, opening for national acts, and performing and recording with an array of bands. Founding his own band, Chris Robertson & The Socket Rockets, Chris won a VT Tammy award for his album “The Need For Tweed.”

Chris also performed as a Headstart Artist as Christopher R. Flying Purple Guitar, playing original children’s music in Vermont schools, child centers, playgroups, and community concerts.

Ramsi Lee

Ramsi Lee

Vocals

Ramsi Lee was born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley and left a career in the medical field to pursue her passion for music at age 26. She spent over 20 years on the road performing while raising her three children, including a seven-year contract in Las Vegas, multiple shows at The Bitter End in NYC, hundreds of cruise ship gigs, and performances across the United States. Over the years, she has played for audiences as large as 50,000 (what a rush, by the way!) and shared the stage with many notable musical talents. Ramsi has also been a sought-after studio vocalist for numerous musical projects, and she’s had the honor of performing the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems at various events and on the radio. Grateful for the unique life experiences and wonderful people she’s met along the way, Ramsi decided to return to New York in 2010 to be closer to family. Peace on Earth, everyone!

Barry Bradford

Barry Bradford

Drums

Back in the ’70s, my first successful band was the Springsteen cover band Chazy, which stayed together in one form or another for nearly a decade. In the ’80s, I played with several bands (including Roscoe, Chapter 11, and After Six), performing at local venues and events. In the ’90s, I became a founding member of Bill’s Toupee and remained with them for 24 successful years as a lead vocalist and drummer. Recently, I came out of retirement to fill in for three bands and have somehow stayed semi-active in the local music scene.

Ralph Mills

Ralph Mills

Bass Guitar

Ralph was born and raised in Newburgh. He started playing the trumpet at 10 years old. In middle school, he switched to trombone and tuba and also picked up the bass guitar. After graduating from high school, he toured Europe with the United States Collegiate Wind Band. Ralph studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music performance. He has played at most of the Catskill, New York resort hotels (think of the movie Dirty Dancing). He enjoys playing classical, jazz, rock, and country. He has also played in the pit for many community theaters in the area. Some of the odd one-off experiences music has given him include the chance to play the national anthem at an NFL game, open for Molly Hatchet at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, and record at Abbey Road Studios (yes, where The Beatles recorded).
